Dinner without drinks is like music without dancing, that’s why this month Bills Restaurant Brighton is helping nationwide diners get their groove on with wine and beer on the house.

We headed to Bill’s Restaurant Brighton for an early birthday. They want to help everyone make up for lost time celebrating together by offering two free glasses of wine (or three beers) with a meal. All you have to do is say ‘Good Times’ to your server.

Bills Brighton was buzzing as we stepped in early on a Thursday evening. The bottle-green velvet seats and walls of curiosities make it a lovely interior, not least as it was actually sunny for once and the windows were thrown open meaning our window seat felt very al fresco surrounded by plants.

My favourite dishes were the starters – the calamari crisp and flavourful and the tuna tacos were fresh and delicious. Both went wonderfully with our chosen free house white wine (Pinot Grigio – you can choose from this, house red or Peroni for the deal). The main menu had great choices for everyone, the sea bass for fish lovers and a really tasty veggie burger with a to-die-for truffle cheese loaded fries.

The service was also really warm and professional, something that I’ve noticed has struggled a bit in some places post lock-down. It really makes a difference to eat somewhere large or small where you’re well looked after.

It was a perfect spot for a birthday with the wine flowing and the in-restaurant dj playing great music.
